SPECIALTY JUDGES
The following will be the 2022 Specialty Judges (subject to CKC Approval)
Ronnie Ross – All Regular/Non Regular Classes
I had my first Flatcoat in 1995 and was lucky enough to make her up to a UK Show Champion and as they say nothing was ever the same again! My wife Susan and I applied to the Kennel Club for our own affix and we were granted Islstrom, a name derived from our first two Flatcoats, Isla and Strome. As a youngster we always had dogs at home, Collies, Labs and Corgis. I also spent a great deal of time playing rugby, so when I retired from the game this world of dog showing was a new adventure. As a family we only breed when we would like a puppy for ourselves. First litter was born in 1999. We kept a bitch and from this came SH CH Islstrom Farranta who won many top honours. Over the years others have won various accolades, CCs and studbook numbers. Farranta’s granddaughter SH CH Islstrom Torrachilty J.W, the only bitch in the litter, had a very successful show career and took the RCC from Veteran at Crufts in 2019. I started judging in 2000 and attained Championship Show level in 2009. I have previously judged in Sweden and I am a member of the four Flatcoat Societies in the UK, for a number of years a committee member for the Scottish Club. Having had a litter at the end of 2019, keeping a bitch and a dog, I am hoping I will be able to show them at some point. However first and foremost my dogs are part of the family and anything else is a bonus. Thank you for inviting me to judge at your show and I am very much looking forward to it.
Jane Calverley – Sweeps
Thank you for my invitation and I’m honoured to judge the puppy, veteran and gun dog sweepstakes. I had my first flatcoat from Pat Chapman in 1982. My second flatcoat in 1992 was when I started showing. I had two litters from her keeping a bitch from each litter. They both became champions. I was asked to judge and eventually started on the road to giving Challenge Certificates. I have also judged in Finland and Germany. I have worked my dogs on shoots for over 30 years which I really enjoy. Two years ago I started training them to compete in working tests. At present I have four bitches ranging from 10 to 3. The fifth generation Gwenadillos were whelped in March 2021.
